Microsoft’s Open Source NLWeb Transforms Website Interaction from Forms to Chat

Microsoft has introduced NLWeb, an open-source protocol that upgrades website interactions from button clicks and form filling to chat-based communication. NLWeb enables websites to implement conversational interfaces and supports MCP, facilitating seamless integration with other AI tools.

It is based on semantic layers like Schema.org and provides open protocols and open-source tools to build the foundational layer of AI networks, similar to the role of HTML in document sharing. NLWeb supports various operating systems including Windows, MacOS, and Linux, and is compatible with libraries and large models like Qdrant and Snowflake.

It also offers code examples and tools to quickly add natural language interaction capabilities to websites.
